- How to identify and implement your company’s emergency plan for spills.
- The details of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) 2002.
Course Contents
This course consists of two sections:
Section 1: spill kits
Section 1 examines the parts that make up a spill kit and how to use them so that you are ready to respond to a spill in a safe and efficient manner.
Section 2: spill kit response procedure
The second section of this course demonstrates the procedure for dealing with a spill, including how to use the enclosed PPE to protect yourself. This is not intended to replace your company or organisation’s spill kit procedure, so make sure to read it if you have one.
About the Course
The Spill Kit Training (chemicals & oils) course is designed to prepare learners to deal with unexpected spills, which may cause damage to people and the environment if left unchecked.
The course begins with an overview of what the spill kit contains—whether it is an all-purpose kit or specifically designed for fuel or chemical spills—and how to recognise and use each item. A spill kit will usually consist of some form of personal protective equipment (PPE) and materials to stop leaks, to dispose of waste, and to seal drains.
In the second section, the course demonstrates a step-by-step procedure for managing and cleaning spills.
Available in 31 languages, the course takes around 20 minutes to complete.
