Overview
Infection prevention is an incredibly important topic for all employees to understand. It is essential that every member of staff understands the risks, how to stay safe, and how to keep themselves and everyone around them free of infection.
This online training course teaches the user about what infections are, where they come from and how to prevent them. Additionally, it gives them a better understanding about personal hygiene and the correct hygiene practises to reduce infection in a work setting.
Learning Outcomes
In this course you will learn:
- What an infection is, and which groups are most vulnerable to them.
- How infection spreads, the details of the ‘infection chain’, and how you can prevent this from happening.
- The importance of personal hygiene and handwashing.
Course Contents
This course consists of three sections:
Section 1: infection
This course begins by detailing what infections are, where they come from, and what risks they present to which groups of people. This includes a breakdown of viruses, bacteria, parasites, and the conditions in which they thriv
Section 2: the chain of infection
Infections are spread through what is known as ‘the chain of infection’. This section explains this process and the actions you can take to stop the spread, for the benefit of your own health and that of others.
Section 3: hygiene
The third section of this course outlines the requirements for good personal hygiene and how to maintain a clean and safe workspace. It also covers waste management and disposal, the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and the safest way to store food items to prevent the spread of bacteria.
About the Course
Infections are easy to spread through the transfer of bacteria, so it is important for everyone to understand the best ways to protect themselves and their colleagues at work.
This course provides an overview of the most common infections, their effects and symptoms, how they spread, and who is most at risk in each case. It then goes on to discuss the importance of personal hygiene, including hand washing and elements of food safety, what constitutes a truly clean environment, and the types of PPE that can be used to combat the spread of germs.
