Overview

 This course in HR Compliance & Wellbeing Essentials shares the benefits of a healthy workplace culture, promoting equality at work while familiarising the user with the main responsibilities and areas of concern for HR. In addition to guidance on managing wellbeing and mental health, it covers workplace bullying and harassment, and methods of conflict resolution.

Course Contents

This course consists of four sections:

Section 1: equality, diversity and unconscious bias

The first part of this course considers the importance of understanding equality, diversity and unconscious bias. It defines these terms and explains how the ways in which people are different may affect how they are treated in the workplace. It also looks at how biases are developed from past experiences, and how this might lead us to behave differently towards different people.

Section 2: bullying and harassment; including sexual harassment

The second section defines bullying, harassment and sexual harassment, considering the similarities and differences between each, how they can be recognised, and techniques for confronting and reporting instances of such negative behaviour when they are identified.

Section 3: conflict resolution

The third section examines workplace conflict, the types that may arise, and how these might be mediated and controlled. Specific attention is paid to communication and other soft skills required to resolve, or even prevent conflict.

Section 4: mental health

The course’s final section discusses common mental health conditions that are likely to be encountered in the workplace. It explains the differences between problems such as stress, loneliness, Anxiety and depression, how they are triggered, and offers advice for how these can be addressed or managed at work.
