Overview

It is an employers absolute duty to have a health & safety policy and to share it with staff. In this policy, an employer must ensure that all measures taken protect the health, safety, and welfare of the employee, so far as is reasonably practicable.

This online training course for managers teaches the user how to show commitment to health and safety law in the UK. The course aims to help the user understand how they can make a safer and healthier workplace, whilst reducing absenteeism.

Course Contents

This course consists of three sections:

Section 1: the 10 steps

The first section of this course details the 10 steps that all businesses must take to ensure the health and safety of their workforce. These include the implementation of a health and safety policy, performing risk assessments, providing health and safety training, and ensuring there is adequate first aid cover.

Section 2: legislation relating to health and safety

Section 2 examines the most relevant legislation for workplace health and safety, including HASAWA, The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations & The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations. It also explains the law surrounding several specific safety concerns, such as fire safety and first aid.

Section 3: health and safety myths

The final section of this course addresses common health and safety myths that undermine the policies in place to mitigate workplace health risks.
