Equality & Diversity Training

Overview

This online Equality & Diversity Training course provides the user with sufficient knowledge about protected characteristics, unfair treatment, and discrimination in the workplace. More than 25% of UK workers say they have experienced workplace discrimination, it is essential that organisations offer this information to their employees.

The CPD Accredited training course can be completed in as little as 30 minutes and provides the user with a certificate upon completion of the end-of-training test.

Learning Outcomes

In this course you will learn:

The characteristics protected under the Equality Act 2010.
Which behaviours are acceptable, which are unacceptable, and which are illegal.
The benefits of a diverse and supportive workplace.

Course Contents

This course consists of three sections:

Section 1: unacceptable behaviour

This course begins by looking at behaviours that is prohibited under the Equality Act 2010, including discrimination and prejudice, stereotyping, victimisation, and harassment. It defines all these terms and why they are both unacceptable and illegal.

Section 2: protected characteristics

Section 2 explores the nine characteristics that are protected under the Equality Act 2010: age, disability, sex and sexuality, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership status, pregnancy and maternity, race, and religion or belief system.

Section 3: the benefits of equality and diversity in the workplace

Section 3 explains the main benefits of promoting diversity in the workplace. This includes, but is not limited to, the reduction of harassment, bullying and discrimination.

About the Course

The Equality and Diversity Training course aims to promote a fair and healthy working culture by highlighting behaviour that is unacceptable, and even illegal under the Equality Act 2010. It explains the characteristics that are protected under this act as well as things that employers should consider when preparing a work environment that suits the needs of everyone.

Later sections of the course list the multiple benefits that come from having a diverse workplace, including boons to business such as increased staff retention and an improved company reputation. Throughout each section, the course provides techniques on how to improve the diversity of your workplace and make it a welcoming place to be.
